Special Meeting - 13 September 2011
Call to Order
Supervisor Laurie Crane called a special meeting of the Huron Town Board to order on September 13, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. The flag salute was waived since the Town Hall meeting room was unavailable for use.
Flag Salute
Supervisor Crane led the flag salute.
Roll Call
The following members were present: Councilmember David Buisch, Lois Buckalew, Russell Teeple, Councilmember Alan Traister and Supervisor Laurie Crane.
Welcome
Supervisor Crane welcomed everyone.
Jack McGuire
Jack McGuire spoke on suggesting the board consider a deputy inspector or deputy code enforcement officer for Building Inspector Gallant. He believes the Town regulations requiring active enforcement place a demand on the Building Inspector's time which cannot be effectively met. Councilmember Buisch spoke that he has a proposal that he will present at the budget portion of the meeting.
Project Graduation
Councilmember Buckalew received an email from Nancy Snyder in regards to Project Graduation detailing the success of the program and funding. The matter was deferred to the 2012 budget discussion.
Justice Audit
Councilmember Buisch moved, seconded by Councilmember Teeple to accept the justice audit conducted by Councilmember Buckalew and Councilmember Traister. All in favor.
WAVAC
Supervisor Crane spoke on attending a meeting with WAVAC, a volunteer organization that provides ambulance service to the Town and Village of Wolcott, part of Butler and part of Huron. They do not operate as part of the emergency service of a fire district and have never received or solicited taxpayer money in the past. Their current unfunded liability for lack of sufficient income, will force them to close unless they find needed financial support. They are asking for $10,000.00 from each town. Supervisor Crane said that she advised them that they might have to form a district. George Lockwood will attend the September 19, 2011 Regular Town Board Meeting.
Work on Tentative Budget
The Town Board worked on the 2012 Tentative Budget.
Next Budget Meeting
The Huron Town Board will have a Budget Workshop on September 19, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. and September 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
Adjournment
Councilmember Teeple moved, seconded by Councilmember Buisch to adjourn at 6:03 p.m. All in favor of this motion.
